MAHA MUDRA or THE GREAT SEAL, MARCH 8 2008
Maha Mudra, or the "Great Seal," brings the student to a powerful meeting place between Asana and Pranayama, opening the channel between Mooladhara Chakra and Ajna Chakra.
Alison West shows you how to prepare the body for this essential pose and how to work with the breath and the bandhas so that you will be ready for the depth of the experience. Back strengthening, chest opening, hamstring release, hip opening and neck preparations are all involved. This pose is one of the great treasures of the practice. Seldom taught, it should be learned under the guidance of an experienced practitioner.
A minimum of six months of asana and pranayama practice required. Due to retentions, those with high blood pressure or pregnant women should not attend.
